Yoga has many benefits. It heals our body and calms our mind. But as a beginner you should know what to do and what not to do, when it comes to yoga.

Prepare your mind and body – If you want to get the complete benefit of yoga you need to first prepare yourself for the yoga and asanas. You cannot just start to practice yoga one fine morning. For preparing your body, you need to first do some simple stretching exercises to tone your muscles so that you do not get hurt when you start doing the yoga asanas. As far as your mind is concerned, you should be absolutely calm and focused on your breathing when you are practicing yoga.

Get an experienced trainer – If you are a beginner and have never done yoga before you need an experienced yoga trainer to learn the basics of yoga. A trainer can show the right postures and techniques of breathing. Remember that yoga for beginner can be tough and prove to be harmful if not done in the proper way. You can in fact learn yoga by reading books and watching videos that teach yoga asana and provide yoga information.

Know when you should practice yoga – The best time for practicing yoga for a beginner as well as experienced people is either early morning or the evening. But most important is that you practice yoga at the same time of the day. This will make your system accustomed to yoga in a regular manner. You should never practice yoga right after a meal or in empty stomach or when you are feeling thirsty. Ideally you should do yoga at least two hours after a meal.

Make it part of daily routine – The most important tips on yoga for beginner is that you have to make yoga a part of your life. You cannot expect to get the benefits of yoga by practicing yoga once in a while. You have to do yoga on a regular basis and consistently. You need to be determined that you need to the yoga no matter what comes to your way. This is only possible when you make it a habit and part of your daily routine.

Don’t stress yourself – There is a misconception, especially among the beginners that to get the benefit of yoga one needs to do the practice for hours. This is not right way of doing yoga for beginner. When you are starting with, half an hour everyday is enough. You should try the simplest asanas that won’t stress your system. When you are comfortable with that you can gradually increase the time and start practicing more complex postures. As a beginner you should never strain yourself with yoga. Remember that when you are feeling tired or your health is not well, you should never practice yoga.
