Technical writing courses are offered in a variety of different formats. Some are offered through businesses and usually to the writing department or professionals in the company or organization that are responsible for providing technical information on products and services offered. Technical writing classes can be either at a basic or more introductory level or they can be at an advanced level for those already working in the field.

Some technical writing courses also provide specific classes that can be used to expand the skills you can offer to a company. These can include online work and website design, information design, illustration and even in translation of documents to and from one or more different languages. Of course there will also be classes that include skills needed in researching and interviewing, developing content and even in evaluation of the final written product. Editing, proofing and various aspects of content writing are core elements of most of the classes and courses in this highly specialized writing field.
