Through the years scores of people are celebrated not only by their country but the larger global community as a result of exceptional performance in their respective roles in the community. A number of great visionary women from Spain have touched peoples' lives universally.
Isabella I
Born in the Madrigal de las Altas Torres region, she grew to become the Queen of the Castile kingdom. This meant that she was the first woman to have her image engraved on the United States currency coins. During the capture of Granada, she was married to King Ferdinand II. This saw the incorporation of Castile and Aragon kingdoms to give rise to the Kingdom of Spain. Ever since, Spain has been a unified state under monarchical rule.
Rosalia de Castro
This outstanding Spanish writer cum poet was born in 1837. During her early life she came across numerous stumbling blocks that resulted in neediness and misery in life. This however did not deter her from doing what she loved most - touching peoples' lives in inspirational poems and articles. There is surely no better way she could have chipped in efforts for a lively community oblivious of daily hardships in life.
Sara Montiel
She is undoubtedly the most celebrated household name in the movie entertainment scene across Spain. Her acting career blossomed at the tender age of sixteen when she appeared in the movie Locura De Amor as an Islamic princess. The movies La Violetera and EL Ultimo Cuple were great successes that saw her gain so much fame amongst movie fans. Sara displayed a true act of Patriotism when she declined to consent to a contract valid for seven years in Hollywood and returned to her motherland, Spain. Penelope Cruz is a stunning Spanish actress who has followed in her steps to add to the list of celebrated women whose roots can be traced to Spain in the present day.
Ana Belen
Born in 1951, she has since changed her name from Maria del Pilar Cuesta Acosta. She features on the global stage as an able actress cum singer whose first appearance was at a tender age during her early teenage years. Her easy on the ear vocals sprang into action later on and this led to her albums such as the Calle Del Oso and Tierra being made public. Around the year 1997, her album entitled 'Mirame' became a bestseller.
The women of Spain have therefore left indelible marks in their respective professional backgrounds and for that we celebrate the Strength of the Spanish woman.
