Special Diet: A Way To Good Health

Your diet is always an important factor in your health, but it is especially important when you are suffering from any chronic health condition. During treatment, your doctor or dietician may recommend a special diet. So any time you make changes in your eating habits with a specific goal, you're on a special diet. Special diets may be assigned for long or short term to address specific needs. Sometimes a pre-prepared nutritional formula, or vitamin and mineral supplements may be prescribed along with special diets.
Eating the right kinds and amounts of food can help you feel better and become stronger. If you have any disease conditions, you have to change your diet according to health conditions with help of dietician. But it's also important to get the facts when making changes in your eating habits.
These special diets falls under two main types depending on their special need
A. Diet for Health condition
This diet is according to our health condition. Sometime body demands for special diet, e.g. in pregnancy diet almost all pregnant women need to get more protein, more of certain vitamins and minerals such as folic acid and iron, and more calories (for energy).
This diet is actually for short term and once you achieve your goal, you can switch to normal diet. And sometimes your dietician may suggest you some vitamin & mineral supplements along with this special diet. Below are some famous special diets:

B. Diet for Disease condition
These diets are recommended when you are suffering from any acute or chronic disease condition. E.g. Dietary advice for reducing heart disease risk includes eating a balanced diet with less saturated fat from red meats, more fresh fruits and vegetables, more fish, less sugar, more fiber and for many people, fewer total calories.
These dietary advices may be for short term or may be lifelong depending on disease condition.
Diabetic person has to follow dietary guidelines throughout life but person suffering from Colitis has to go to regular diet once he/she is totally back to normal condition. Please take advice from your physician and dietician before following any dietary modifications. You may be advised to take vitamin & mineral supplements if required, but it will depend on disease condition and health status of person. Below are some famous special diets:

In many cases, a doctor will prescribe a modified diet, along with exercise suited to your condition. Sometimes, this diet therapy is nothing more than a good, nutritious diet balanced in carbohydrates, proteins and fats, or one that requires frequent mini meals.
Most special diets can be just as tasty and easy to follow as traditional eating plans.
