Know The Different Methods To Remove Skin Tags

How to remove skin tags? This question bothers all those individuals, who have skin tags. The tags that do not at all create any difficulty should be left as they are. However the ones that are in places like the neck or the face are usually preferred to be taken away. The reason being that they are not a good sight to look at.

Prior to going for the removal of the tag, one must know what it exactly is. People often confuse skin tags as warts or moles. By keeping in mind some of the things related to skin tags, they can be very easily identified. It is a growth on the skin that looks like a lump. It is of the same color as that of the skin or it may be slightly darker. The tags are at the most half inch big. They are usually round or flat and are attached by a stalk known as peduncle to the skin.

One can choose from a wide variety of options available, to get them removed. One must select the one that best suits them. Either the surgical methods or the home remedies can be selected. The surgical methods are expensive. This results in most of the people opting for the do it yourself option. However, if the tags are present in sensitive areas like around the eyelids, consulting a doctor is highly recommended.

In the very first clinical technique, a scalpel or a sharp knife may be used by the medical practitioner to cut the tag. This option might however leave a scar. Therefore this method is not usually used for tags that are present on the face. The second type of surgical method used is known as cauterizing. In this the tag is burned off. It can be somewhat painful. There is also a very high probability of a scar eventually being left.

Laser surgery is also a clinical method used to remove skin tags. It involves the use of a small laser beam to remove the tag. This method is however the most expensive among all the surgical methods. However the probability of a scar being left is very small, if this method is used. There might be a little swelling and burning, which is eased by the use of an antibiotic ointment.

Majority of the people prefer removing the skin tag at home. The easiest option for doing so is by cutting them with the help of nail clippers. In addition to pain, this method also causes bleeding. Once the tag is cut, the place where it was present should be cleaned appropriately, before applying an antibacterial medicine. Application of such a medicine, prevents the chances of an infection. Knowing all the things about the methods to remove the tags, prior to getting them removed is beneficial. Once all the good and bad things about a method are known, individuals can decide if they want to go for it.
