Numerous Information About Skin Tag Removal

Author : Mario Cora

One should opt for skin tag removal only after having a thorough information about it. Skin tags are basically small growths that develop on the skin. The tissues by which they are attached to the skin are called as stalks or peduncles. In most of the cases they are harmless. However there have been cases of them being cancerous. The tags are a little more pigmented than the skin or they can be of the same color, as the skin is.

The causes of skin tag are many. It is said to have occurred in more than half of the population, at some time or the other. The major cause of it is the friction between the clothes and the skin. Due to constant friction of the clothes in areas like the waistline, the armpits, the chest and the groin region, skin tags are usually found in such places. It is also very common on the neckline, due to the friction caused by jewelry.

Generally overweight and obese individuals have a high tendency of getting them. The main reason for this is that there are a lot of folds present on their skin. Tags are thus formed due to the constant friction between the folds. Women who are pregnant also have a high tendency of getting tags. Heredity can also be one of the causes for it. People of all ages are prone to get them.

There are a lot of things that can be done to get rid of skin tags. Surgical removal is one, amongst the various options. However in cases when the tags are many, it is not feasible to get them removed surgically. In such cases removing them with the help of certain home remedies is recommended.

Prior to stating the first option, it is highly recommended for people who are strong enough to go for it. The reason for this is that, it requires the person to cut them off with a sharp pair of scissors. This process involves losing a lot of blood. Hence sufficient quantity of cotton should be kept handy. Also care needs to be taken to use a sterile instrument. On not using a sterile instrument, there is a huge possibility of an infection being caused.

Tying a dentals floss or a thread around the skin tag can be considered as another method to remove the tags. It results in the obstruction of the blood flow towards the tag. As a result of this, the skin tag ultimately falls off. At times it may not be possible for the person to tie the tag themselves. In cases like these, taking help from someone is advised.

The skin tag can also be removed by a method known as freezing. In this method, liquid nitrogen is used to dry the tag. This ultimately results in the falling away of the tag. This method also has a few drawbacks. Firstly there can be a temporary discoloration of the skin, due to the use of liquid nitrogen. Secondly there are also chances of the tag coming back.

The home remedies stated above are usually safe. However their implementation should be executed cautiously. Skin tags are in some case, present in the vicinity of very sensitive areas like the ears, the nose or the eyelids. A physician should be consulted in cases like these.
