Most female celebrities are popular for mainly two things - their beauty/sex appeal and their figure. A lot of women place celebrities on the pedestal of role models and hope to achieve a similarly curvaceous, slim and sexy body. But have you ever stopped to wonder how they do it? Not all celebrities follow a sustainable diet. In fact, many are notorious for their rather bizarre and downright silly fad diets that help them drop pounds within days. Don't believe me? Take a look at some of the more popular celebrity weight loss diets.

1. Master Cleanse Diet

This is one of the more popular fad diets that claim to help you lose weight fast. Personally, I think it's rather farfetched. Sure, an American artist, actress and fashion designer dropped about 20 pounds on this diet, but who wouldn't if they were drinking nothing more than a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper?

2. Baby Food Diet

Come on Now! you are going to dip into your baby's food? This is one of those celebrity weight loss diets that sound silly from the word GO. So, put down your baby's bowl this minute and look for a more grown-up solution for weight loss, will you!

3. Eat Like a Bird Fad

Taking inspiration from birds, are we? Why not? Considering that very few birds lose sleep over weight loss issues and they are always in form. Plus, they can fly too! That seems to be an English singer cum songwriter's reasoning even as she sincerely champions the virtues of eating like a bird. The secret behind her svelte body is a diet consisting of soya beans, strawberries, lettuce, and a gross shake made from algae and seaweed. What bird is inspiring her, I wonder...

4. Grapefruit Oil Diet

An "oh-so-exotic Hollywood actress" believes in keeping her figure by sniffing on grapefruit oil. Why exactly? Well, experts in liver psychology will argue that the scent of grapefruit releases a secret message to the liver which propels it into action and sends it attacking the fat deposits in your body with the vengeance of a Chinese shadow warrior. Hey presto, rapid weight loss at a sniff!

5. Ice Cube Diet

You guessed right. The main premise behind this celebrity weight loss diet is eating ice cubes. Made popular by a famous Hollywood actress. Snacking on ice cubes apparently keeps hunger pangs at bay! cubes are snack, huh? When did they get initiated into the food category? Right around the time when the "Stupidest Fad Diets of the World" convention was happening, I guess.

6. Cabbage Soup Diet

Inspired, no doubt, by the Buckett family from Roald Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the cabbage soup diet has been one 34-year-old actresses emergency lifeline when she needs to lose weight fast, really, really fast. I don't think anybody is going to ask for second helpings. And that's how people following the cabbage soup diet keep in shape. They would rather die than have any more!

Most of these celebrity weight loss diets border on the insane. They cannot be sustained over a long period of time and they certainly aren't the healthiest way to achieve weight loss. Rather than fall for these ridiculous and somewhat dangerous methods to lose weight, it's better to adopt a holistic routine that combines exercising, diet modification, and lifestyle changes. That way, you keep weight off more permanently and don't harm your body in the process.
