Two Small Weight Loss Tricks That Give Big Results

Author : Phil Tucker

People often take an 'all or nothing' approach to dieting. They think that they have to sacrifice everything, absolutely toe the line and lose all their weight in record time if they are to make a real change. If they do it this way, they feel dedicated, serious about their diets, but unfortunately this often leads to people breaking them in about a couple of weeks since it's so hard to do. Instead, you can often realize huge changes in your weight over time by adopting a few small changes. In today's article we're going to take a look at two such simple ways to drop the weight by not doing anything radical but just adjusting your lifestyle in subtle and small ways.

The first is the biggest and best thing you can do for yourself, and that is to have a large and healthy breakfast. We've all heard it said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but just like any too-often repeated platitude, this wisdom can get lost over time as we begin to rush into our day, not putting the time into ensuring we eat well first thing. The consequence is that we get hit by hunger pangs in the mid-morning, and suddenly need to bolt down the closest thing to us. This is often an unhealthy snack, of which we then eat too much, which is in turn followed by a sugar crash. Instead, try to get at least 300 calories under your belt in some healthy fashion, making sure to get a good mixture of carbs, protein and fat to ensure that the meal stays in your system and fuels you in the long run.

The other best thing you can do for yourself is to cut back on snacks. In the 1970's people were eating about an average of three snacks, but today we are eating five. These snacks are perfectly formulated balances between salt, fat, and sugar, and are designed to hit all the right spots in our brains to make us enjoy them and want more. However, they are not good nutrition, and usually are filled with empty calories that will make us want more and more even when our bodies no longer need them. By cutting out unhealthy snacks you will find a way to lose weight without making much of an effort. Instead, try to put healthy snacks like granola bars around the house.
