Effective Home Remedies For Eye Puffiness And Dark Circles

The term bags under eyes refer to the puffiness or swelling under the eyes. It is actually not a serious medical or health issue, but can create cosmetic and psychological problems. Bags under eyes are really very annoying. They give you a worn out and older appearance. Individuals with baggy eyes may also have dark circles and loose skin under the eyes. This condition is mainly caused by aging and the subsequent weakening of the tissues and muscles of the eyes. Under eye bags can be removed by a surgical procedure known as blepharoplasty However, just like any other operative procedures, this surgery is also not free from risks, complications, difficulties, and side effects. There are also certain medical treatments for this condition, such as botox and collagen injections that can provide long lasting relief from this problem. However, both these injections are costly and may not be covered by medical insurance plans. This cosmetic condition can be successfully treated with home remedies for bags under eyes.

It has been proven that the eye puffiness and dark circles can be very effectively removed by applying tea bags over the eyes. This is one of the most widely used home remedies for bags under eyes, Collect two used herbal or chamomile tea bags and put them in the freezer for about 10 to 15 minutes. Close your eyes and place one tea bag over each eye. Leave them there for approximately 15 minutes. Then, remove the tea bags and see the results. Green tea does have anti-inflammatory properties that will definitely help you get rid of your baggy eyes.

Cucumber is also extremely helpful to deal with bags under eyes and improve the skin around the eyes. Cut two one-fourth inch slices from a cucumber, place them over your eyes (with eyes closed), sit back, and relax for sometime. Potato slices can also be used in the same way to reduce under eye bags. Take two one-fourth inch potato slices, chill them in a freezer, and then apply these slices over your eyes. Applying a cold compress to the skin under and around the eyes is also an excellent home remedy for bags under eyes. Dampen a washcloth with cool water and then place it over your eyes for a while.

Apart from these home remedies for bags under eyes, certain lifestyle changes can also help you reduce your baggy eyes. Try to get adequate sleep everyday and use a pillow to elevate your head while sleeping. It is very important to avoid getting allergies and sinus infections. Reduce the intake of sodium in order to prevent the retention of fluid under the eyes. You should also lessen the consumption of alcohol and caffeine. Drink enough water to keep your skin well hydrated and eat a well-balanced diet.
