Heal Naturally Natural Health Remedies For The Common Cold

You've been feeling a little funny lately. It is easy to write the little tickles and sniffles off as nothing major and by the time you accept them for what they are, the illness has become very real. Instead of reaching for the medicine cabinet handle, look around your house-you probably have all sorts of natural health remedies in your possession already. Natural health remedies are a great alternative to the "traditional" medications that you can buy at the store. Obviously you do not want to ignore any orders from a doctor, but before you see the doctor, why not give natural health a try?

Did you know that onions can help your health? Combining onions with honey to make syrup is one popular method of curing a cold. Slice up an onion, put the slices in a bowl and cover them in honey. Mix the onions and honey thoroughly and then leave it alone overnight. You should take a single spoonful of the onions and honey every three or four hours and after a few days the cold should go away. Adding some onions to your food every meal is another good idea-they blend in to the taste of just about everything. Find a good salve recipe. Whether you have sinus issues or chest congestion, salve is a great help. There are quite a few salve recipes out there that are well known for their healing properties-the herbs and other natural ingredients used are good for the skin and your system and can be a great way to absorb the nutrients you need if your stomach is acting up. If you don't have the time to make a salve from scratch, vaporub is a natural health alternative that is worth looking into. Healing and getting over the cold or flu can be as simple as rubbing some salve onto your chest overnight.

Don't eat sugar. Sugar makes your immune system slow and it's easier for a cold or flu to sneak into your system. Cutting out sugar can help you feel healthier and stronger which is part of keeping yourself free of illness. While many people opt for sugary drinks when they are sick because they like the taste, staying strong and drinking water instead is better for you. Natural health remedies are great but if eating sugary snacks and foods won't let them do the job you want them to do. People suffering from illnesses have a wide variety of herbal and other natural health options to choose from when they want to get better. Why would you fill your body with drugs when there is another way? Obviously you want to follow orders given to you by a doctor but if you don't have doctors' orders why not try the natural route?
