Planning A Wedding - Advice From An Expert

Author : Callum Leslie Walters

Aside from the birth of a couple's first child, their wedding day is possibly the best day of their lives. It is a time for them to reflect on their love for one another and to share the joy with friends and family. The wedding serves to unite them as one person and celebrate the path they are about to embark upon. As wonderful as the wedding and the subsequent reception are, much careful planning must be put into the occasion. In order to provide a day that goes off without problems, it is important to know where to start when planning a wedding.

The bride and groom are the focus of a wedding, yes, but others that have been a part of their lives are a piece of the puzzle as well. That is why a guest list must be created to determine the number of people to be invited. In fact, performing this task is probably the first thing that should be completed. Much of the day, especially the reception, is planned based on the guest list. This roster is used to create a budget that is itself derived from the amount of catering to utilize, the size of the hall that must be rented, and the number of invitations to purchase and mail to invitees.

Upon completion of the guest list, it is time to decide upon the entertainment that will bring the fun to the reception. Many times, the familiar DJ is hired to spin songs all night. Sometimes, a full band is hired to provide the musical entertainment. Skits are sometimes performed by the wedding party and certain guests in order to provide some levity. Occasionally, games are played to increase the fun factor. The guest list is rather helpful when performing the planning in this department as well, because the likes and dislikes of those attending helps shape the chosen entertainment.

A place in which to hold the wedding ceremony must be selected. Quite often, the bride and groom choose one of their churches for the event, usually the one located in the best area for the families to reach. In order to marry the couple, a pastor, priest, or other qualified person must by picked. To house the reception, a hall close to the church is best, so it is important to contact the hall plenty of time in advance in order to guarantee availability. Wedding photographers often fill up their books quickly, so this professional should also be reserved well before the wedding day.

Planning is the key component to guarantee a successful wedding ceremony and reception. It is arguably more important than the actual wedding. As long as a budget is created based on the previously mentioned considerations, a guest list is concocted, and pertinent professionals are contacted, the rest should fall into place rather nicely. Once the planning is done, it is time for the bride and groom to begin a long and happy life with one another.
