Moulding A Happy Child's Growth

Author : Thomsen Lucas

Children are society's building blocks to a sound and healthy future, and as some would put it; they are priceless gifts from the creator. And toys play a vital role for children to enjoy a healthy growth and sustain a strong mental development. The choice of toys for a particular age group is just as important as procuring the right toy for a child of a particular sex.

Toys for children are therefore carefully designed to suit the child's preferences and mood. As a male child would naturally want to have miniature cars, trucks, aeroplanes, sports items and action figures as toys; a girl child would however prefer a doll, a cookery set and a range of soft toys. Not to forget, children irrespective of their sexes love to play with colours; hence a set of colouring crayons or pencils, and colouring books would also be just a perfect set of toys for children.

In this day and age, toys for children (in Danish legetøj til børn) have not only become more interactive but a lot more computerized. Unlike the spinning tops and marbles of back in the day, computer games, playstations, x-boxes and remote controlled cars have become quite the norm. Not that tops and marbles have become extinct altogether, but children just don't seem to pick up these toys as often as kids would do about 20 odd years ago.

However, the love for outdoor toys such as a football, a cricket set, bicycles, skate-boards and many more is still as strong as ever in children. The important factor that determines the success of a toy is interactivity. A child needs to be engaged with a toy for as long as possible so that his/her motor and sensory skills are exercised to a great extent. Sensory toys are therefore recommended for both a child's amusement as well as his'/her's healthy development.

As a child extracts the maximum amount of learning from a toy, the child is bound to enjoy the toy just as much. Hence, sensory toys (in Danish Sansestimulerende Legetøj) capable of engaging every bit of the child's curiosity would naturally fare better as compared to toys that a child can find only one or two purposes in. Children love to feel happy and not only do toys have to engross the child in discovering more, but more importantly sensory toys should ideally also provide a child with the maximum fun possible!
