The family home environment is so important, and that is where you can control and boost general feelings of acceptance for all. Naturally your daughter has her own choices about things, and you can give her direct support about them so she feels more confident about them. You are capable of doing this in quite a few small ways that will have a cumulative effect over time. Take as many possibilities as you can to inspire her to discuss what is on her mind and how she feels. It is not always necessary to say something if you feel differently about something - just be careful to avoid stifling her expression. She needs to have the self-esteem in expressing her ideas and feelings.

Make some kind of plan for recreation involving her and/or the entire family. They do not have to be groundbreaking, only relaxing for everyone and entertaining to do. Plus it's a very good idea for her to see more of her immediate surroundings that make-up the world. You would like to change her focus from her inner thoughts all the time to want to know what is going on out there in the world. It is helpful to get her to open up about her inner feelings about the new things she is seeing with your activities.

Obviously mealtime can be a source of stress for everyone and specifically for your daughter. In addition, it is extremely important that your entire family group eats together. Research has shown that families who gather for meals and eat as one usually have healthier outlooks. When everybody is at the table, never allow any kind of heavy and dark silence attain energy. You want to keep clear of any unfavorable energy from occurring. Ask your children how school was and anything else to have a nice conversation. There is nothing at all wrong with getting a good laugh during dinner time.

But you do want to be ready to explore anorexia with your daughter because it is something that should never be kept in the dark. It is fine to discuss, but just be aware that it is not a prime topic every day. Obviously this is major life condition for her, so it matters very much that you show her you care and prepared to face it with her. In that spirit, just talk to her about it, answer queries and provide your insights in a normal manner. Just be sure to keep things optimistic and forward looking - upbeat.
