Does Google Take Advantage Of Signals From Facebook For Ranking?

Author : Tim Nagle

Countless webmasters are asking if Google uses Twitter, Facebook and other socail media links and landing pages as ranking signals. The answer is yes, however for this to work to your advantage there are a few items you need to consider.

When Google is sweeping social links for ranking, like those collected from Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, they are also taking a hard look at the reputation of the webmasters that generate the content, thereby creating the links.

Google has a battery of web quality teams that scan blog searches, real time searches and now social network searches. In the past they for the most part considered real time searches or individual tweets. They are now examining how advantageous it is to go further within the social media web search links.

When Google first starting ranking socail media sites they didn't focus as much on content. As of December 2010 content and reputation has become an essential key in ranking these links for top notch exposure.

Google can simply rank what they can see. If for some reason the content on the link is blocked from web crawlers or some other method and Google is unable to identify the content, the links and content won't be signaled. This just makes sense but is often missed.

It you are considering this report as a great opportunity to make money online, you're completely correct. Before jumping in however, here is some important advice you need to take into account before going crazy trying to throw content on your social networking posts or profiles.

Google's ranking signal qualifying methods carefully look at not only the volume of the links but the quality of the links together with quality content. Always recognize - garbage in garbage out. You don't want to jump in trying to take advantage of this tremendous moment in online marketing, instantly creating large numbers of links that have lame content. It will be a great waste of your time. Taking time to build or post good content implementing your terrific writing, marketing and sales experience will be worth the effort in the long run. This is honestly not so different from old school marketing. Project that you are a genuine professional furnishing what the public wants.

Another thing to keep in mind is that chances are considerable that Google will discount your pages if you are using software programs or bots to create them. It is also necessary to recognize that if you link somewhere from your Facebook And Twitter posts, you have to send your followers to a landing page, not just a straight affiliate link. At this point you're not being appraised, your affiliate program is. So take the time to make a landing page if you're linking visitors to the subject they were interested in with your message around it.

Google chiefly looks at real time searches and the entry streams but they are considering it in more depth in web searches also.
