It is indeed a fact all the programs in a fitness boot camp are strikingly similar to the rigorous programs followed by the military training boot camps. Unsurprisingly, the fitness programs in fitness boot camps are invariably conceived and implemented by personal trainers most of whom are retired military officers.

The principal objective of these fitness boot camps is to help participants shed excess body fat, improve cardiovascular conditions, increase muscle strength, observe a healthy diet plan and adopt a new lifestyle to remain physically agile and fit at all times.

The fitness boot camps are necessary as a lot of people will lack self-discipline and will not perform many of the physical exercise all by themselves. They need some external agencies to push them into a program and this is what fitness boot camp does.

The current trend in fitness boot camps is to vigorously train people all day individually and through team efforts. The larger question is - why are these fitness boot camps attract a lot of people and continue to be popular when the participants are pushed into doing rigorous exercises.

The answer to this question is not far to seek. In the present fast-paced world when things are becoming increasingly competitive, people want to become physically fit and lead healthier lives to cope up with the high pressure and strenuous demands.

The fact also remains that a gym becomes boring after a period of time and there is no discipline enforced on the people who attend. Whereas in fitness boot camps, every participant is forced to join in the rigorous activities and the expected results are achieved much faster.

The present trend is not to always hold the fitness programs at the actual camp sites but also hold them in other outside places like beachfronts, open grounds and parks. The idea is to provide refreshingly different ambience to the participants and break the monotony and stifling atmosphere generally prevalent at camp sites. This revised thinking on the part of the trainers has proved to be a welcome change and the trainees, it is said, are getting better motivated.

The activities in fitness boot camps are quite grueling in nature and consist of push ups, squats, plyometrics, pull-ups, lunges, all sorts of calisthenic exercises, suspension training, endurance tests, lot of running and jogging.The present trend is trainers have started organizing outdoor games to get the participants into a competitive spirit and introduce an element of peer pressure. Trainees are usually paired up or placed in small groups of three to five people when the games are organized.

The present trend is each fitness boot camp promises something new and physical trainers are always looking for innovative ways for their trainees to get fit fast.The fitness boot camps have ceased to be places where people merely get together to get fit and to lose weight but also to provide one other with the social support that is required to achieve enduring results. Many people cannot adjust to the discipline and compulsions of fitness boot camp as loners but will be able to perform well as a team member.

The trend these days seems to be fewer people are going to the gym and instead prefer attending fitness boot camps and this is evident from the fact that more and more fitness boot camps are coming up and the existing ones are also growing dramatically in strength.
