How To Make The Christmas Feeling Come To Life

Author : Samson Hannison

Christmas has long been, and I think always will be a time when the happy thoughts of the past and also the anticipation of creating new ones for the future energize our surroundings. The air seems sweeter, individuals friendlier and attitudes are more positive. The season calls for us all to color our homes along with any part of our life in a manner that matches our festive mood. Instead of following to the letter decorating tips we have been applying since we were young let's try out new ideas to help build new memories. Even though we could simply go to the mall, or purchase some quality home decor over the internet, we also have quite a bit we can do without spending any money.

Let us start with the front door. Doors and wreaths since I was a little one always came together once the season began. The only deviation would be the ribbons, blooms, pinecones and dried components on it. Instead of a wreath why not try garlands. Hang a garland at the top part of the door%u2019s threshold letting the ends to fall to the sides so it frames the door. Do not worry that the whole door is not totally defined less is more. Also trim the garland as if you would your Christmas tree and it'll seem like a portal to all things Christmas. On the flip side rather than the traditional garland that we usually place on our mantel try an unique approach to bringing the Christmas spirit to this portion of the room. A good idea would be to place various candles on it. Purchasing candles that have a Yuletide theme is something our family has been doing for some time. Candles elaborately shaped just like trees or perhaps those simple ones in the Christmas colors of red and green will do nicely. Group them together on the mantle according to your style and break up the monotony with a vase of blossoms. Remember to use candle colors that pop like red, cranberry and lively hues of green.

Christmas tassels are not just for curtains we can also suspend them on door knobs, at the end of tables, desks or drawers. These decorations are noticed as soon as a guest enters a room. What I like about tassles is that it adds a touch of color and decadence to a room, not too much, just sufficient to make it interesting. Getting our houses in the mood of the season doesn't involve buying Christmas specific items to decorate throughout the house. An accessory like a vase, bowl or bottle that have colors associated with the season like gold, green or red works extremely well as decorations on center or side tables. In keeping with table decorations, when having family dinners together this season remember to keep within the theme with the use of Yuletide colors for accent pieces. Please do not go out of your way to get plates that all match or have Christmas decor in it, you can just choose a gold, cranberry or green plate from your existing stash. If you want to really impress, determine which Christmas recipes you're going to be cooking on Christmas day, determine the colors involved, and opt for table decoration which is matching the colors used in the meal.

During the holidays our family always set aside time for gift wrapping. This year don't hold back with the ribbons and wrapping paper. Think about gift wrapping the present to appear like it is overflowing with love. Let the individual you are gifting believe that the gift is not just the box but also how you spent time to wrap the gift.
