It a metabolic rate is high, the energy passes through the body without being stored or converts to muscle quickly. Building muscle mass is far healthier than fat of course, so this is in fact a good thing.



It is likely that those that don't put on weight may have an increased metabolism, and as such though they eat the same as others, will not see the same affects. As such, eating slightly bigger portions and snacking between meals on healthy snacks can have a significant result. This will also give more energy for exercise.



This extra energy being consumed must be changed into muscle rather than linger as fat though, so exercising is also important. Ideally, sixty minutes each day is good to go for, with swimming and walking being amongst the best ways to do this.



Ahead of any plans to gain healthy weight however, it is recommended that you consult with your doctor. They can ascertain whether there are any underlying conditions that need to be treated, and also give valuable advice over other ways to increase weight.
