Metal detectors don't indicate treasure from possible trash. These just distinguish the thing that is made of metal. It is in fact for you to find out what a detector has found. Thus, you need to dig for this with care. Be cautious not to ruin what you are in fact digging for.
Don't use your shovel and pickaxes randomly. You should be able to view already a part of the goal even before you could completely extract it. Don't come up with conclusions on what it really is before you can have it dug out completely though.
