If you are looking for an affordable hotel that is very accessible within the Chicago area, the Congress Plaza Hotel is the place to go. This was built during the 1890s and was designed primarily for the World's Columbian Exposition visitors. You can find it near Grant Park which is about 2 miles away from Navy Pier.
The lobby has two restaurants and a lounge. American cuisine is served in Gazebo Restaurant while Midwestern cuisine is served (dinner only) at Rafael Steak House. Rooms are provided with air conditioning and climate control. Rooms have telephone and a clock radio which can be used as an alarm clock for guests. But if you are a heavy sleeper, you can ask the front desk to ring you a wake-up call. Voice mail service is also offered in the phone service.
You can also request for a crib or an infant bed for your babies or a roll away bed for older children or extra persons. Each room is equipped with magnetic keys. The rooms are kept clean because housekeeping is always prompt and done when tenants are out. The hotel can also offer ironing services if you need some clothes to be pressed. Smoking is permitted in the privacy of your room. The best part is, each room has its own window that opens outside.
Arcade, ATM and regular banks, breakfast, fitness gyms, hair salon, Wi-Fi access, multi-lingual staff, room services, safety deposit box at the front desk, etc are the other added services and amenities offered. The front desk is also available anytime, 24/7. Banquet facilities aer also available for special events like weddings and others. Conference rooms are also available for conventions and seminars. They also offer services like dry cleaning or laundry. There are also areas for exhibits and an area for small group get together.
