Stop Hair Loss With These 9 Effective Tips

Author : Charles Zoe

Even though millions of both men and women suffer from hair loss, the latter seems to be highly affected psychologically and emotionally. Individuals undergoing hair loss experience some increasing levels of anxiety, depression, stress, and deficit of self-esteem. There is no doubt that losing their hair can be an extremely traumatic time for a person. Many consider hair to be a sign of virility and life in a person, so losing hair can have a damaging effect on a person's confidence. Here are some things you can start doing right now. These tips will help you keep your hair and scalp healthy so you can minimize the effects of DHT and stop, or at least slow down, your hair loss:

1. Avoid overuse of heating products. Styling tools such as straighteners and curlers may help to make a woman's hair look fabulous, but they place great stress on hair, which can be a factor in losing hair. If you are looking to stop hair loss reducing time spent using heating products can make an impact on the vitality of your hair.

2. Don’t wear large ponytails, braids or buns over a long period of time because it can stress the hair and lead to hair fall. Prefer looser and easy hair styles.

3. Once a week try to gently massage a good quality oil, such as coconut oil, into the scalp. Leave on for a couple of hours and then use a gentle shampoo to remove. THis provides great nourishment to the scalp and hair follicles.

4. Great hair starts on the inside. No part of your body can function at it’s best if your body isn’t getting the nutrition it needs. Eating a well balanced diet will pay many dividends, not the least of which is healthy hair. Make sure you get plenty of zinc, copper, and lean protein in your diet by eating things like: fish, leafy green vegetables and eggs. Also make sure to drink plenty of water, that will keep your body and your hair properly hydrated.

5. Avoid Blow drying of the hair where possible. Natural drying is far better but if you do need to blow dry, then use a low heat setting and avoid placing the dryer too close to the head.

6. Do not color or treat your hair too often. A growing number of people are experiencing hair loss, and this can be very traumatic for any woman. A lot of this is due to chemicals being placed into the hair during coloring or treating processes. Advances in hair design and fashion has enabled women to have any color they want in their hair, but it has created further dangers.

7. Include protein and calcium rich foods to your diet to prevent hair loss. Take eggs, almonds, sprouts, fish, soymilk, soy beans, yogurt etc to hair loss treatment.

8. Regular gentle brushing of the hair is great but avoid harsh brushing as this strips and stretches the hair, resulting in brittle hair that is prone to breakage.

9. Do not brush wet hair. It does not matter how late you are or how little time you have to get ready. Brushing wet hair is extremely damaging and should not be done at any time. When wet, your hair is extremely vulnerable, making it far more likely to break off when brushing. Always ensure you detangle your hair by using a wide tooth comb before you consider brushing if you wish to stop hair loss.
