If you do not have 20/20 vision and are considering eye surgery to regain better vision, there are lots of options available to you. Whether you are twenty years old or eighty, there are a myriad of eye surgery choices, including cataract surgery, CK surgery, and Visian ICL Surgery lajollalasik.com/services/implantable.php.
Some options available for cataract patients include removal, Multi-focal Lenses (referred to often as ReZoom or ReSTOR) and Accommodating Lens (or Crystalens). If your eyes are becoming (or already have become) cloudy in appearance, and you no longer have the vision you once had, you may be a good candidate for cataract surgery. During this procedure, your doctor will take remove the lens that has become cloudy and replace it with what is called an intraocular lens implant, or IOL. These surgeries have a success rate of 90 percent or greater and a quick recovery time. You will feel very little, if anything during this hour-long procedure because you are under local anesthesia. Afterward, you will be able to go home, and healing should take about ten weeks in total.
Conductive Keratoplasty Eye Surgery (or CK) reshapes the cornea using heat from radio waves. This process gives better vision for patients who would like to see both near and far by shrinking the collagen around the cornea. CK can be a great option for those forty and older who are farsighted and would like to be able to see better close-up without glasses. This procedure only takes about fifteen minutes, and there is hardly any downtime involved—you can go home right away as long as you have another driver.
Visian ICL Surgery is a procedure in which your doctor surgically implants contact lenses into your eyes. This procedure can be perfect for those who are moderately to severely nearsighted but cannot have LASIK. Although the surgery is meant to be permanent, it is reversible. This procedure takes 15 – 30 minutes and requires minimal—if any—downtime.
