Stationery is an important function in your wedding day, and so is personalization. We sat down with Catherine Grandalski from LaGrange Printers Inc. who shares tips for ordering stationery and engraving those special items for your wedding day.

GM: Should we order all our wedding stationery (invitation/programs/etc.) through one company?

CG: It probably does save money. When you have the wedding invitations set up and then you want to go and set up programs you can use that art that you've got the style already. You've got it all coordinated so just moving onto another piece is pretty easy to do and of course it would save design time to put all those pieces together in a day or a few hours.

GM: How can we incorporate engraved items into the wedding?

CG: Have the wine bottles and wine glasses engraved with a note on each of them for guests, parents, or special relatives that you might want to include. The people in the bridal party were selected for special reasons. They have special memories and those things can be written onto the engraved gift. It can have the date of the wedding or maybe a little special memory on the bottle so then they have that forever.

GM: Is there a piece of stationery that’s often overlooked?

CG: Programs unfortunately are usually left for the very end of the whole wedding planning. It is always my hope that we could start setting it up along shortly thereafter the wedding invitations so then it's not into a hurry crunch time. There are always last minute details that have to be added. But the bulk of the program can be set up early on in the wedding. Then there isn't any hurried rush nervousness at the very end.

GM: When should programs be ordered?

CG: It could even be something that's discussed so that we know what kind of paper, what color we're going to use, how many pages we think it might be, you wouldn't know always all of those details but the basic parts could be thought of beforehand.

GM: What can we get engraved that will last after the wedding day?

CG: A unity candle holder can be a great option to engrave because that's something you could have forever throughout your wedding and marriage. It's got to have a space, a flat space someplace. It can be curved glass or in many cases I have engraved silver, metal things; it can be plastic, but a metal or glass piece can be engraved.
