How To Set Up A Perfect Kitchen Table And Chairs For Your Family

Author : J.J. Yong

They say food brings people together, and there is no way that they are wrong about that. Having said that, it can safely be said that the kitchen is where the family gathers and in households that are too busy, it could possibly be the only time the family is together be it doing chores, preparing dinner or having dinner itself!

Your kitchen can pretty much be a versatile area as it not only serves as a place you prepare food but with proper furniture such as tables and chairs it can also be where you have informal family meals and once the tables are cleared it can also be used for the kids to do their homework with little to no distractions or where you can carry out your projects be it for business or simply DIY home projects. So, the trick to setting up the perfect kitchen table and chairs for your family really depends on how you want your kitchen to function. Do you see it as strictly for food or as a place of various purpose?

If you want to keep your tables and chairs for meals and food preparation only, then go with something that seats the number of your family members and maybe a little more if you're likely to have guest over often and pick something casual and square or rectangular in shape. Round tables seat more people but it would be best used for small families so that it would be comfortable to sit around and have good conversations.

Choosing to go with square or rectangular tables add a little more elegance to the atmosphere and it also gives you more space on the table as well. This would do perfectly if you'd like to use the area for more than just food. Go with something simple and not too detailed since it fits into your kitchen and get your furniture to fall in line with the theme your kitchen, be it rustic, modern or back to basics of the traditional feel you had while growing up.

Whatever furniture you choose to go with, always try to have it made in wood as this can last longer, especially if it's oak or pine. The color of wood usually goes with any wall color so you shouldn't have a problem, but if you'd like something very modern then maybe try marble or ceramic instead, though this can be quite heavy.

To brighten up your kitchen, don't just assemble tables and chairs together but put together some flowers or a few scented candles and make a center piece. It's really easy and you can look up quite a few good ideas online too. If you're going to use the table for other purposes, have a shelf nearby to store away clutter and to keep your dishes so that your kitchen will always be tidy as well. It will also help to have a table cloth that matches your kitchen, maybe one that matches your curtains or wall color, to protect the surface of your table from spills or whatever other messes. If you think washing the cloth will be too much of a hassle, get some plastic protection and put that on top of your table and there would be no washing necessary! A quick wipe will help clean up most kitchen messes!
