Satellite Internet Users ViaSat WildBlue Hughesnet

Author : Francis David

With the purchase of Wild Blue scheduled to close in April 2010 and the scheduled launch of the ViaSat-1 satellite in early 2011 it would make sense to sign up with this Wildblue internet or you can compare Hughesnet Satellite Internet .

Customers of Wild Blue Satellite Internet have speed allotments ranging between 512kbs up to 1.5 Mbps. With the looming launch of ViaSat-1 Wild Blue looks to lower its operating costs, increase its capacity by 10-times its current amount, and add approximately 2 million subscribers.

ViaSat, a producer of innovative satellite and wireless communication systems, is in the process of purchasing WildBlue Communications, the premier Ka-Band satellite broadband service provider. A deal is in the works to create one of the nations most powerful Satellite Broadband Providers.

Add to the mix the launch of ViaSat-1, a satellite that will provide more capacity than all current North American Satellites combined, and a stimulus request of 300 million in Federal Funding, the ViaSat acquisition of Wildblue will allow ViaSat Wildblue to be the premier provider in a field of two or three satellite internet providers for the United States.

Wild Blue is already appealing to the 10 to 15 million U.S. households that do not have access to DSL or Cable Internet. Satellite Internet provides Internet Broadband speeds that range 10 –30 times faster than dial-up. This is ideal for rural America where homes are distanced miles away from any LAN-based services. Wildblue maintains a customer base of over 400,000 and remains one of the fastest growing Internet Service Providers in the country.

With Spot Beam technology Wildblue already provides its users four to six times the capacity of conventional KU-Band satellites. This enables the Satellite provider to allow customers more bandwidth. Wildblue has already tripled the capacity of its network with the launch of Wilblue-1, the first full KA-band spot beam satellite, in March 2007. This adds to their existing satellites Anik F2 and a recent addition of AMC 15

ViaSat-1, with estimated speeds ranging from 2 Mbps to 8 Mbps, aims to surpass the median speed of DSL, which is currently 768 Kbps, and place well above the cable Internet median of 4.5. This would place Satellite Internet at speeds competitive with and in some cases better than any other provider.
