America has fought to become the source of cream of the crop dress designers, and has succeeded in ways that no one ever thought possible. The top five designers in the country are Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar De La Renta, Marchesa, Betsey Johnson, and Vera Wang. All of these designers have spent many years putting in the hard work and effort into making their dresses reflect who they are and what their customers want.
Dolce & Gabbana are actually a team of designers that have become a house hold name. Hailing from Italy, this power couple has taken the fashion world by storm. Their dresses offer skin hugging hotness of mostly strapless design, which accentuates the best of a woman’s curves without going too far over the top. No words can possible capture their sheer genius. Not only do they offer beautiful dresses, but bags and other accessories to accentuate your sexiness. Creating your own D&G look is quite simple with a little mixing and matching. One of their dresses became the topic of much debate when Jennifer Lopez and January Jones wore similar designs by the famous designers.
Oscar De La Renta has been designing dresses for the American public since 1963 with the likes of Elizabeth Arden and has made a name with his “ready to wear” line of dresses since 1965. His dress line features three very distinct designs like the embroidered dress, the Halter dress, and the Paillette dress that is made with feather accents. Two of these designs are classic in nature and haven’t lessened in popularity in the 50 years since their conception and adoption into America’s fashion culture. The feather adaptation is a recent addition to the designs and with his excellent eye, adds a little something fun to any classic design. Kristen Stewart wore a dress of his design to the premier of her latest movie “New Moon”.
Betsey Johnson is another dress designer that adds a little more attitude to the dress world and her “in your face” designs have shocked and delighted the fashion world in more ways than one. As an aspiring dancer, her fashion designs have reflected the changes in the artistic world as well as the fashion. Her dresses often reflect the classic designs of the 60’s with a bit of hippy flair and a little taste of the 80’s thrown in for added fun. Many of her dresses are knee length or shorter and some tease the sexiness border with their bold and daring sheerness. Many celebrities from Paris Hilton to Rhianna wear her designs, making the flirty girl in all of us a little jealous.
Marchesa is a relative new name is the fashion industry and is actually a brand name founded by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in 2004. They combined their love of costume design and print/embroidery design to create memorable dresses that are rising in popularity all over the world. Their dresses reflect a more couture appearance with sleek lines and flowing fabrics. Some feature fun and flirty skirts with multiple layers, while others hug the body with simple flower accents. One of their most famous designs was worn by Anne Hathaway to one of Hollywood’s biggest events.
Vera Wang is hands down the top dress designer in the history of fashion. Her most famous designs have brides to be drooling and grooms to be well pleased. Her line of formal wear reflects every bride’s dream for her perfect dress and offers a stunning option for bride’s maids dresses that they will beg to wear over and over again. Celebrities like Uma Thurman and Maria Carey have entered into wedded bliss wearing Vera’s most popular designs.
