Gamblers Question If This Is The Year For Spurrier At The Sportsbook

Sports Books bettors are asking themselves if this is ultimately the season that South Carolina under head coach Steve Spurrier is a considerable force in the SEC.
The Gamecocks have been touted as contenders before in the SEC but they've never really lived up to advance billing. The probabilities at the online sportsbook list South Carolina as 75-1 long shots to win the national championship this season but Spurrier has said this is the greatest group of athletes he has ever had at South Carolina.
Since they're the defending national winners, NCAA sportsbook probabilities prefer Alabama in the SEC and for great reason. South Carolina is really not given that much of a shot to win the SEC since they have not been a power under Spurrier. The Gamecocks were only 7-6 last season and that has been the norm for South Carolina under Spurrier. The Gamecocks are only a slightly above average team. Spurrier is not used to managing mediocrity but that has been the case with South Carolina.
This season, South Carolina will have their chance to make their mark in the SEC. Since the schedule sets up well for them, this might ultimately be the year for the Gamecocks. They should defeat Southern Mississippi in their home opener on September 2nd in a competition that can be watched on ESPN. In another competition they're capable of winning, they then host Georgia. They then will be expected to rout Furman before their first road test of the season at Auburn. If they could find a way to win that competition they might be undefeated for a big home competition versus Alabama in early October. The issue for South Carolina vs the online sportsbook probabilities is that they still would have to win at Florida later in the season which is really tricky to do. It won't be effortless, either, at the road competition to end the season at Clemson.
The possibility for a major year and winning sports lines is there but there are lots of land mines out there taking a look at South Carolina's schedule. The SEC is the hardest conference in college football and South Carolina has not shown the ability to win persistently versus the greatest teams. A division championship may be just out of reach though a winning track record is likely for Spurrier this season.
