Live In Mexico - Be Healthy, Live Well, Spend Less

Author : Thomas Lloyd

Why live in Mexico? Healthy lifestyle at a low cost is one very good reason. While many people around their 40s, and even more so nearing retirement, are looking for a healthier and more relaxing lifestyle, it seems that all too often a healthy lifestyle is seen as a luxury; weather it's paying for the gym, or getting more natural food – we always have to pay for what we don't want, less fat, fewer carbs, no chemicals all cost us a good chunk – this kind of lifestyle comes with a price.

Living in Mexico, however, can help you get into a very healthy lifestyle routine, without these extra expenses. Buying a property and living in many of Mexico's favorite tourism and expat communities can help with this on a very basic level. If you buy Puerto Vallarta real estate, for example, on the beachfront, you will find yourself enjoying evening and morning walks – a little bit of exercise while not even thinking about can go a long way.

Many neighborhoods in Puerto Vallarta, along with Playa del Carmen properties and numerous other areas in Mexico, are within close walking distance to shopping, restaurants and services. You will find that short, comfortable walks will become a regular part of your lifestyle. Many communities for retirement (and families) have been designed with walking trails and bike paths. Constantly warm weather makes biking a pleasurable form of exercise all year. Most communities also include a gym, and Yoga is a quickly growing trend; prices are very accessible.

While little bits of exercise like this will become a comfortable part of a relaxing routine, areas such as the Pacific coast (Puerto Vallarta) or the Yucatan Peninsula (Playa del Carmen) offer high-quality fresh fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. Fresh, local fish, in addition to imported, is also readily available.

While most people associate Mexico with greasy, heavy food like tacos, or tamales (which a large chunk of the population does eat on a regular basis) fresh food is always available, and even street side stands sell sliced fruit for a quick and healthy snack. Little shops sell freshly squeezed orange juice and smoothy-like drinks, which you order the way you like, with the ingredients you want. And again – low prices! Getting into healthy habits is much easier when you don't feel you're blowing the budget to do so.

And, last, but certainly not least, is relaxation. Health experts point out that people are healthier when they are relaxed. Relaxation is a part of day to day life in Mexico. Those little walks you go for a few times a day won't feel like a self-inflicted punishment, but just another part of a laid-back routine. Eating healthy will be easy to do, and will fit nicely into your budget – so no stress about not eating right!

If you are looking for a healthier lifestyle, considering living in Mexico. You will be healthy, live well, and spend less.
