Online War Cyber Attack

Author : Francis David

We have yet to see the full disaster that a major Cyber attack can cause. But almost every technology expert agree that we are likely to witness one within the next 30 years as it becomes another weapon in war.

One of the many great things about being able to use your WildBlue high-speed Internet service is the fact that you can connect with virtually anybody in the world. You can get score updates from the latest games, send pictures to friends in different countries, go shopping, use social networking sites, do all of your banking, and soon start a war.

While some countries are not currently worried about Cyber attacks on their countries infrastructure, major world contributing countries like the US, China, Israel, Russia, And France are. That is why these and other countries are already gearing up and getting prepared for when the attacks take place. They know that as technology grows so does the chances of major criminals and terrorist groups breaking into the countries infrastructure and shutting it down giving the attacker a big advantage.

Even though as far as we know there have not been any real major Cyber attacks targeted towards the US, experts do believe that Cyber Cold War is already in process. One expert Dimitri Alperovitch who serves as the vice president at Mcaffee for threat research believes that on July 4 when people in the United and South Korea were not able to access websites it was probably a test to see if both militaries were still able to communicate with each other during the process. If not that will leave each country open to attacks in wars without even knowing where it was coming from.

So far there have been small attacks like the one Estonian government and small commercial websites had in 2007, also during the South Ossetia War in the country of Georgia last year where civilians were able to attack and deny entry in commercial websites.
