Tips In Furniture Planning

Author : James Gardener

When an architect designs a home, it is always advisable to consider furniture the owner may already have. The owner, for instance, may already have a four-poster bed that has been passed on from one generation to another or probably the owner has an antique chest that's part of his collection. Thus, when designing, these pieces of furniture should be measured.

You will be using these measurements in case they won't fit on an opening of a traditional door. In such cases, alternative routes would be considered when moving in. A window could be used, in which case, the furniture will have to be put in before the final finishing for the windows is applied.

There are times when owners are strongly insistent in buying a specific furniture or bed for the house. These cases are exceptional because in most cases, the designer or the architect will make the final decision when it comes to furniture. Usually, designers are under the notion, while they are in the process of making the design, that standard furniture sizes are going to be used. Consequently, the furniture has to be laid out in the plan so that the locations of the convenience outlets and switches are located in proximity to the furniture. Otherwise, using extensions that are not really pleasant to see is inevitable. Even the lighting plan would depend on the location of the furniture.

Thus, designers should partake in buying of the pieces of furniture and fixtures. The designer will know what color schemes will fit each room. In fact, he can even use different themes when decorating each room. Using period themes like Renaissance, Gothic are some examples. Cultural themes are also great. These themes include Egyptian theme, Japanese theme and many more.

A more exciting design could be eclectic which is mixing different kinds of styles. Mixing styles is an art so aesthetics will have a huge role while you do the mixing of the styles. Designers have their own set of rules and sometimes, each designer have their own separate rules.

But there is a general rule that is standard for all designers - never mix more than 3 genres. One way to do it will be to combine many styles of furniture as long as these pieces are made of the same material like wood or that all of these pieces have a common pattern or shape.
