It’s time for the big game, and all of your friends are gathered around the TV. Piled high on the coffee table and dinner table are bowls of delicious snacks to munch on while you watch your favorite team win.
Dogs enjoy snacks just like you and me. When they are out walking down the street with you or playing a game of catch the ball, they really do enjoy a good dog snack. Packed with flavors that make the surprise something to remember, a dogs snacks should be healthy as well.
Healthy snacks for dogs include ingredients that are also delicious such as prime rib, steak and grilled chicken. Even finicky eaters enjoy tiny morsels of steak as a treat. To be healthy, snacks for dogs need to be low in fat and high in protein. When dogs eat a treat there should always be plenty of water available just as with their regular meals.
Snacks for dogs are not a meal replacement, but a great way to reward your loyal companion during the day. It’s a great way to tell them they are cared about and part of the family. If they do something special like catch a Frisbee or follow a command that has been very difficult for them, a snack is a great way to positively reinforce the desired behavior, encouraging them to repeat the behavior again. If they especially like a particular treat, it will make them even more excited about trying new tricks as well.
So the next time you throw that fantastic Super Bowl party, remember to fill a bowl with healthy dog snacks to have on hand for your dog to enjoy. In fact, when the team scores and your dog does a flip, throw him a snack for his feat!
