Olympian A Future Physician

This lady came to this small town in 1984 hoping to become a world class runner and an Olympic competitor. Her greenish brown eyes saw it all in the short span of four years. She was able to bag sixth place when she competed in the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul Korea as she joined the 3,000 meter run. December came and this young world class athlete finally graduated. As the princess of American middle distance running at a tender age of 23, this lady was easily able to scoop a nice deal with a shoe manufacturing company to endorse their brand for three years.
This young girl from Delaware chose to stay where she is for the moment. She gets to see the entire campus on her regular workouts. This stunning young runner stands 5 foot 6 and weighs 110 pounds but as she runs to her own finish line, it's as if her feet barely touch the ground. People seek her autograph wherever she goes, but fame makes her fidgety. She gets troubled when people give her special treatment being the self effacing young lady that she is who believes that she is just a normal person.
As normal as she is, she is certainly not average. In her town, she is the first female Olympian. She currently holds four distinctions in U.S. collegiate records but apart from this, she is a superb part of seven world record relay groups. She even paved the way for her team in school to capture 8 individual NCAA championship titles as well as 14 Big East championship wins. She has also driven herself to achieve a lot of the bigger honors.
Now that she has already graduated from collegiate competitions, she has begun planning her sports career with the help of her track coach. With this big change in her life, she knows that she has to make some mental adjustments. People can hardly grasp this unless they have already experienced it. The great pressure she feels that drives her to running greatness is mostly exerted by her own self. As she is still under her three year contract with the famous shoe company, she truly fears sustaining some injuries. Thanks to people's great expectations of her, she's become more uneasy than she was in the past collegiate games she competed in.
Many ask what would happen now to the local track team of the women. She says, of course they can for they a magnificent team. With the notoriety, pressures and responsibilities she's faced with, she learns to value her privacy. Her family, from her parents and siblings had to adjust to being known as her parents, brother and sister. Thanks to her parents being laid back, they were more of encouraging rather than pushy.
With her stardom comes the positive trait which is the company she keeps. Her friends are no other than the greatest and the brightest athletes that we all could only watch on television. While she does name drop, this is without any hints of pretention since she has nothing but true affection and concern for these great people that share with her a common link. A good example would be this during her return from Hawaii in June where she went on tour with another runner, she shares that the last time she had since him was way back during the time they both competed in the Olympics. It was great to spend three days with him, talk about old times, and have fun.
Her list of things to do has not gotten any shorter even if she shares that she's got so much time on her hands. Her schedule is truly loaded for in addition to her daily workouts, she also gets her hands full with the obligations of a public figure like being in track meets, photo sessions, banquets and interviews. She would also like to give back by offering some of her time and talent as a volunteer assistant track coach at the local school.
She also aspires to become one of the local hospital's volunteers in honor of the medical career she has placed in the back seat. This can be a huge advantage for her by assisting this psychology and premed major in deciding if she should still pursue the life of a doctor after she takes off her professional running shoes. Has she thought about what awaits her? She avers that while she hopes to have a good husband and children, they will have to wait after her running career has flourished. She maintains that reaching her goals and priorities are what she's running after.
