NFL preseason probabilities and NFL lines betting will again highlight the Cowboys as 1 of the most popular options with the NFL gambling public to go all the way in the 2010 season.
NFL odds handicappers will be impressed with a Dallas team that is continually in NFL gambling competition for the post season and with their overhauled lineup.
Dallas finished atop the NFC East Division last year with a track record of 11-5 straight up and 9-7 against the spread. The Cowboys defeated their hated arch competitors in the East, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the opening round of the NFC playoffs before losing at Minnesota in the next round.
In 2 out of the last 3 seasons, Dallas has won the division championship. There is lots of added incentive for Dallas to win this year with Super Bowl XLV being held at Cowboys Stadium, also described as "Jerry's World" in reference to owner Jerry Jones. Dallas is aiming to be the first ever team to host a Super Bowl.
Even with his many detractors, Jones has always been identified as a visionary, and he definitely wants to have his team in his world come Super Sunday. Past famous Cowboy greats Roger Staubach and Charles Haley have already addressed the team about the great possibilities and about what lies ahead in 2010.
Tony Romo will return at quarterback and the 30-year-old signal caller will provide a more experienced outlook to go with his substantial physical abilities. Miles Austin, who's arriving from a Pro Bowl season last year, is his favorite target. Dez Bryant was the Cowboys first round draft pick and will bring depth to the wide receiver corps.
After being burned with such major name free agents as Terrell Owens and Tank Johnson, Jones stressed the draft this year. Owens was suspended by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005 after saying open, rude remarks about the management, and then removed for the remainder of the season. The next season he was released. Four days later, the Dallas Cowboys signed him. Following similar issues, it only took a few seasons for the Cowboys to release him also. Johnson was signed partway through an NFL suspension because of run-ins with the law by the Dallas Cowboys. He wound up missing eight games because of this suspension, not appearing on the field until November 11. The Cowboys were taking a shot on him to start with, and once he became a free agent, he abandoned the team to sign with the Bengals. Jones now feels the draft is the biggest way for a team to achieve football wagering success.
"It's expensive to step out here in free agency and grant these guys a third or second contract," said the owner. "The draft is the best way to go." Wade Phillips, the controversial head coach, returns yet again in spite of his many naysayers. Phillips has become tougher and more assertive with his coaching and has gained regard.
The Cowboys will start up the preseason on August 8 against the Bengals and then play the Oakland Raiders just 4 days later on August 12.
