Basic Steps To Drain Pipes Installation

Author : Jon Brown

Installing drain pipes is a professional work done mostly by plumbers. It involves the use of special tools and materials and requires an intensive process of completing the job. Do not be intimidated though since you can actually do this installation of drain pipes yourself as well.

Number thing you need to get done is to gather all your tools and equipments together. The tools you will be using are a wrench, putty, adhesive, plastic washers, plastic nuts, and plastic PVC pipes. You also need to wear a rain coat, a pair of gloves, a mask and goggles to protect your skin and body.

Number one thing that you need to learn is to learn about the right configuration of pipes. You have to check underneath the sink on what particular type of pipe you will need. Make sure that you also check on the custom piece that is needed to attach the drain to the wall trap or to the garbage disposal unit. To install them together you will need plastic washers, plastic nuts and the pipes.

Make sure that you also check the sink basket to view the strainer bottom. In the bottom, there is a small piece of pipe that sticks down. Make sure that you connect this pipe that you see to the drainage in order for the strainer to be connected to the sink. You can do that by placing putty underneath the sink and press it into the drain. Have the PVC tube attached to the sink basket and fit it to the washer.

Then you need to connect the whole system of pipes to the location of the disposal system. In this case you have to make sure the pipes are also properly fitted and secured. You need to apply adhesive and screws then plastic nuts on the wall trap for a more secured attachment.

Those are the steps on how to install drain pipes. This installation process cannot be only done by a professional plumber. The only difference though is that professional plumbers have done this for years so they do their job with the highest level of excellence. Hence, do not hesitate to hire a plumber to do the installing of pipes.
