Dangerous Youth?

Most of us associate adolescents with something bad. Young criminals, alcohol, drugs – these are the words that come to mind every time we think about the youth. Why do we think this way? Do young people really give us so many reasons? I agree that people tend to be more aggressive in this age but they are also more passionate about everything. They feel more then the adults do, mostly because of the hormones that determine the way they act in this time of their lives.
Let us think about ourselves. What kind of teenagers we were? I bet we all say there was nothing wrong with us right? Maybe there wasn’t, because teenagers are not always angry and demoralized. They can be lovely, sensitive people who care about the others. They are also creative, energetic and full of passion. Some of them might choose the wrong way but with the proper attitude of their parents and with love they get at home we can be sure the adolescent won’t have problems with knowing the difference between the right and wrong.
Most of the young people love spending time in groups, with their friends. Some of them don’t have enough money to visit expensive clubs that is why they hang out on the streets on in parks. There is nothing wrong with it in most of the cases. Some of them do have crazy ideas, they vandalize public properties and sometimes abuse alcohol but it is not always like that. Most of them just spend time together, talking and laughing. If you get a closer look at them you will see I am telling you the truth. The problem is, we always avoid such groups, just in case, so we don’t have any chance to see that most of the young people meet to spend some nice time with their friends.
Many adolescents have interesting passions that often turn into professions or lifetime hobbies in their adult lives. Many young men love bikes. They know everything about them, can explain us in small details what is the difference between single speed bikes and fixed gear bikes. They are excellent riders; they spend hours practicing new tricks and combinations. They don’t have time for crazy parties, alcohol and drugs.
A big number of young people is obsessed with computers. It is not surprising nowadays, when almost everyone has a computer with the Internet connection. Some of them spend hours playing computer games and watching videos. The others become real experts in everything concerning the Web and IT. They know all the newest accessories, they save money to buy all the gadgets like mini mouse or webcam. They have no problems at all with all the programs and different features. Young people with such passion practically don’t have to worry about their future. They only have to finish all the necessary courses. Every IT specialist will get a decent job.
Adolescent is not always a rebel without a cause. Maybe the times have changed and nowadays young people have more things to do to kill boredom. But maybe everything stays the same and, like in every age group, there are individuals who, sadly for the rest become the models for all kinds of stereotypes people love to create so much.
