It shouldn't be too hard for you to learn the guitar, especially with so many different options available for learning it. I hope I can help you choose the right one.
First let's see what different ways for learning the guitar we can choose from today:
Private Instruction
Class Room Instruction
Learn How To Play The Guitar Online
Private Instruction
Let's take a look at the positives. This I'm sure is what most guitar players try when starting out. A newbie can benefit a lot from this method. You have someone there to help you place your fingers in the correct position while having your playing monitored at all times during the lesson; Plus you are forced to practice otherwise you are just throwing your money away.
Now let's take a look at some of the cons. With private instruction you want be able to learn faster if you are capable of it. This means you will only learn as fast as the instructor's lesson plans. This can frustrate some beginners. You see, we all learn at different speeds. Plus, private instruction is expensive. It has been a very long time since I took any private instructions on how to play the guitar. But, I recall paying $80/hr for my private lessons. The schedule is also an issue. Sometimes you will not use the proper technique when practicing, which means you just lost that whole week of practice. Back to the Drawing Board!
Class Room Instruction
Why is it good? Well, it doesn't cost a lot of money. This is the cheapest way available today for learning the guitar. I even recommend it for people that are not sure whether or not they really want to learn the guitar. Any more pros? Not really. That's about it.
Class Room Instruction cam make you frustrated easily. The instructor won't be able to provide you with the help you need if you don't understand certain instruction, and as I said earlier, everyone moves at their own pace.
Online Beginner Guitar Lessons
This, in my opinion, is the best way to learn guitar. When you learn the guitar online, you can learn at your own rate, you can move on to the next lesson right away if you're ready, or take longer if you need more practice. Plus with many online guitar lessons you get a live instructor weekly with video forums. And the best thing is, you can always replay the lessons at any time you want, until you fully grasp the concept. This is something that just wasn't available to me when I was learning. I feel I could have learned in half the time with this incredible feature. I'd also have to say the cost is outstanding! I mean, when you get this type of professional instruction for as little as $12.95/mo. How great is that! And you will always get updates on the latest techniques of playing the guitar.Plus, the instruction is always updated with the latest techniques from a multitude of different instructors. This would definitely be the way to go!
Well, there are some cons with online guitar lessons for beginners. You have to set your own time for learning and practice. If you have difficulties keeping yourself motivated, then this might be a bad option for you. Quitting might be just too easy for you. You may also want to jump too far in advance before fully learning your lessons. However, if you don't lack self-motivational skills, then online lessons is the best option for you.
