Are You Joining The Ranks Of The Many Hundreds Who Are Crying Out, Help Me Quit Smoking?

Author : Arthur Richards

You're feeling pretty depressed since you've already tried to stop smoking and failed, likely numerous times. Now you're calling out in desperation, "Help me quit smoking."

Smoking is a dangerous pursuit. Over 1,200 individuals pass away every single day within the United States alone as a consequence of smoking related ailments. To place that in perspective, large jets such as the Boeing 767 can carry approximately 245 passengers. So, picture close to 5 Boeing 767s crashing every day within the United States and you will appreciate the scope of this problem.

If the airline industry were really plagued with this crisis, a huge number of customers would be canceling their airline reservations each day.

The major difference between an airline crash and smoking deaths is that the 1,200 people who perish because of smoking related conditions daily don't die quickly in a fiery crash. They frequently suffer for years with life threatening diseases that curtail their activities and produce untold pain and suffering before they at long last yield to their health issues..

The truth is, many hundreds of people every single day are asking for help in their quest to help them quit smoking. However, unlike canceling an airline flight, quitting smoking is difficult, Some studies have compared nicotine with popular drugs. These studies commonly rank nicotine number one, ahead of heroin and cocaine, in terms of how hard it is to quit. On top of that, nicotine's withdrawal symptoms rank right next to heroin and cocaine.

Maybe as significant is how easy it is for a casual, infrequent smoker, to become addicted. Nicotine earns the "gold standard" in ease of becoming addicted. Trailing right behind top rated nicotine are methamphetamines (ice, glass, and crystal meth) and crack cocaine.

Don't even wonder. Nicotine is a very dangerous drug. And then the cigarettes that deliver the nicotine pump plenty of noxious gases and tars into your system that trigger cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and a host of other incapacitating illnesses. There is no shame in calling out to anyone, "Help me quit smoking."

If you're truly ready to quit, make sure you join a support group. It is hard to break away from smoking on your own. Sharing your struggle with others may be the key to your success.

Members of your support group can encourage you and give you recommendations about nicotine reduction therapy (such as the nicotine patch) and other methods (like hypnosis) which have worked for group members. If you are tense and have a powerful temptation to reach for a cigarette to relax you, it's reassuring to know there's someone you can discuss your situation with. Someone who can get you over your cravings and support you through to victory.

You can find local groups at your place of work or in your own community. Talk with your health professional or call an area hospital for help in finding a group. National groups like Nicotine Anonymous have meetings in lots of cities throughout the United States. What's more, there are several online groups that provide discussion areas where you can share your feelings and learn from other people struggling right along with you.

Now is your time to quit. Realize that when you call out, "Help me quit smoking," that there are hundreds of people willing to come alongside of you and give you the assistance and encouragement you want.
