There are so many ways which go into boatbuilding The whole process is simply amazing to watch and create. It has always been said that one of the oldest forms of engineering in this world has been the creation of a boat, or rather building a boat, in plain terms. If you remember, a boat was one of the earliest forms of long distance transport. In the ancient days when there were neither planes and nor cars then there were the boats.
People used to travel for days and months on end to get from one place to another. And how would they do it? They would use boats. Which is why even now, boats continue to remain a passion for many people. Building a boat is not only an act of engineering but also an art. Thus a lot of people really put their heart and soul into making a boat which can be their very own. It is almost like having another family member to be with.
Basics for building a boat:
There are many people who would dearly love to have their own boat and build it too. However there is one word of advice for all those boat builders. If you want to build a boat for yourself, please know what a boat is all about. It is strange to see that there are quite a few people who are very enthusiastic about building a boat. But if you go ahead and ask them whether they know all the basic parts of a boat then they will be all blank. So for all those boat builders, here are the basic parts of a boat which you should have on your fingertips:
7Bow- this is the front part of a boat or the pointy bit. This you can see when you are standing in front of a boat and watching it.
8Bulk head- the inner walls of the boat are called this.
9Chine- these go through the water when at a high speed and help to stop the water spray in a higher direction.
10Deck- this is the place where the people in the boat or the crew stand. This is done to manage the boat and also help to keep the hull dry by resisting the water.
11Keel- this helps the boat when it turns or deal with any pressure from the side due to the wind.
12Rudder- it is like the steering wheel of a car and helps to manage the navigation of the boat.
13Sheer- when you look at the hull and see the upper curve that is the sheer.
Thus if you go with keep these basics in mind, it will all be a cakewalk. Once these basics are mastered, things should not be too much of a problem.
