Are You Expecting? Here's What To Look For In Nursery Crib Bedding

Author : Wendy Moyer

If you are expecting a baby then you are probably thinking that you should get baby bedding in preparation for the blessed event. This article will take a look at a number of the baby bedding options that you might want to consider. Some are "must haves" that your baby will need while others are designed more for decorative uses.

Baby Bedding Sheets

If you have a washer/dryer at home you are going to need to have a minimum of three baby bedding sheets for your infant. If you don't have a washer/dryer then you will need considerably more.

You may find that it will be less expensive (and a lot more convenient) to purchase a washer/dryer instead of buying more sheets and having to deal with having them cleaned.

Unique Baby Blankets

Baby blankets are made of lighter weight materials. You will need at least one or two baby blankets to keep your baby warm and comfortable.

Baby Comforters

These are decorative blankets and are not designed to be used for sleeping. They're pretty but not necessary.

Baby Bedding Bumper

A bumper is a soft runner. It will act as a cushion when your baby bumps into the sides of his or her crib. You should consider using a baby bedding bumper to protect your child.

Baby Bedding Dust Ruffles

These are purely decorative. They're certainly not required.

Diaper Stacker

A baby bedding diaper stacker can make life easier for new moms and dads. It is a hanging fabric container that you will use to store your new diapers.

Additional Nursery Accoutrements

Decorative pillows, wall hangings, and window treatments also add to the ambience of your baby's nursery, but they are optional.

What Comes In Baby Bedding Crib Sets?

Baby bedding often comes in three, four, or six piece sets. Here's what you will get for your money:

A 3 piece crib set will include a comforter, a fitted sheet, and a crib bumper. A 4 piece set adds a dust ruffle. And a 6 piece baby bedding set is made up of a comforter, a crib bumper, a fitted sheet, a dust ruffle, a diaper stacker, and a window valance.

There are even bigger sets available. And, keep in mind, that no matter how big or how small the nursery set is, additional pieces are usually available.

If this is your first child then you should start talking to other moms about what they bought and how satisfied they are with their purchases. Ask them what they would have liked to have known before they made their purchases. Ask them what they would change if they could.

Then, after gathering all this information from the moms you meet in the mall, the mothers you meet on the street, and the moms you might meet at work, you can choose what would be best for you and your family in terms of budget, style, and upkeep.
