It is not uncommon for people to admit they rarely, if ever, wash their duvets. Very few of us in the United Kingdom manage to wash our duvets every six months and surveys show that many of us are likely to be sleeping under duvets which are riddled with dust mites and dead skin. In fact, tests carried out on 10 duvets at the University of Worcester a few years ago found they each held up to 20,000 live house dust mites. The worst case was a duvet that had not been washed for 11 years and contained 45g of debris including skin scales and house dust mite faeces.
Sadly for some, the debris contained within a duvet can result in serious implications on one’s health as the contaminants can cause symptoms of asthma, rhinitis and conjunctivitis and irritate existing cases of eczema. Though anti allergy bedding is widely available much of it has been treated with chemicals in which the dust mites simply cannot survive. The best way of actually eradicating these little creatures, however, lies simply in washing your bedding at 60 degrees centigrade. This temperature, or hotter, will kill off and remove all those dust mites and their allergens from your duvets and pillows.
The Spundown duvet may be washed frequently at 60 degrees centigrade and has an exceptional ability to re-plump after each and every wash, wash after wash. The soft, light, microfibre filling of this uniquely washable duvet is also so highly compressible that all sizes and togs, of this duvet, fit into a standard domestic washing machine. So, no more expensive and time-consuming trips to the launderette! The Fine Bedding Company, whom designed and manufactures this award-winning duvet, describes their creation as “the duvet that loves to be washed”. Furthermore, the easy-care polyester cover of the Spundown duvet is quite unique in its soft peach-skin feel, its ability to dry particularly quickly; together with its resistance to creasing. All in all, the Spundown duvet is the perfect combination of soft, lightweight comfort, combined with easy care.
In conclusion the Spundown duvet is the perfect choice of duvet for those who suffer from allergies or simply like the practicality of a duvet that may be washed at home. It is ideal for children, but equally adored by adults, as it is superbly soft, lightweight and drapes beautifully around the body.
P Barraclough advises on choosing and purchasing the most appropriate duvet for either yourself or a member of your family. She highly recommends the Spundown duvet from the selection available from the Fine Bedding Company duvets as these duvets are ideal for children, but equally adored by adults, as they are superbly soft, lightweight and drape beautifully around the body. All sizes available may be washed in a standard domestic washing machine.
