Fixing Your Bad Credit With Credit Card

Author : J.J. Yong

Most of the financial experts commented that the economy in United States is recovering. Let me ask you a personal question. Have you regained your personal financial strength? For people with bad credit, have you started putting in effort to fix your poor credit?

If you haven't taken any step, here is some guidance for your kind reference. Rebuilding credit is in fact a simple task if the right technique is used. The most common way to do so is through credit cards.

In United States, there are many lenders or providers in the market which provide special cards for people who intend to rebuild their poor credit. Once you have repaid all your previous debts, you can start applying for a new card to fix your poor credit history. You are advised not to submit your application to any traditional bank or financial institution. To make things easier, you should get the card from any of the employee credit unions, departmental stores or gasoline companies.

If your credit is really bad and you don't qualify for a regular card, you can apply for a secured one. You don't need to put up any collateral to obtain a secured card. What you need to do is to deposit a sum of fund in an account to secure your card. The amount of fund will serve as your credit line.

Once you have obtained the card, regardless secured or unsecured, you must utilize it responsibly. You need to pay your monthly bill promptly in order to fix a better credit history. Hence, you are advised to make small purchases every month so that you can afford to pay the expenses with your monthly income. If you want to fix your credit within short period, say within one year, it would be better if you could keep all your credit card bills at zero balance. It is not necessary for you to swipe the card every month. You can keep the card and yet you can increase your credit score.

Last but not the least; you are reminded that improving your credit rating requires positive attitude towards money. When you have a new card in your wallet, you must make sure that you change your spending habit. Keep the card at low utilization. Do not simply swipe your card because failure of paying back the debt will definitely make your credit score worse. Nobody wants to get drowned AGAIN in deep debt.
