Magnetic Energy To Power Your Home

Author : Pawel Reszka

Did you know that magnets can be used to generate power? It's true, and many homes are turning to this inexpensive way of generating all or part of their energy needs. Magnetic energy is one of the newest alternative energy sources which people are looking into in order to tell whether it is an appropriate choice for your home.

One of the nicest things about magnetic generators is that they are able to be installed in your home quite easily. They often do not require the same level of expertise and specialized tools that solar panels may require and are suitable for use in areas where weather may not be good enough to use other power sources.

What You Need To Know About Magnetic Generators

The energy that magnets create is brought about through the use of a generator. This is a housing which contains a series of wire-wrapped magnets that rotate around a central shaft. The positioning of the magnets is such that once the central shaft is spun (either via a motor or a hand crank) the magnets will continue the motion at the same time as the charge is being generated.

This charge travels along the wires and through to a circuit. The appliances and other items that are being run off of the generator are attached to this circuit. Depending on the size of the generator you may be able to run some or all of your appliances or lighting fixtures.

Alternative Power Source Comparison

Did you know that solar panels can cost up to six hundred dollars per panel? They are not all this expensive, but they do begin around two hundred and fifty dollars. Wind turbines can cost several hundred dollars and go upwards of a thousand dollars or more depending on how large they are. Both of these methods require a lot of room.

Solar panels often need to be set up on a roof, a shed or a balcony. They need to have unobstructed access to sunlight to build up a charge. They also need to be aligned precisely depending on the angle of the earth's surface.

A wind turbine can require a lot of space and can be too large and unwieldy to work well in residential areas. You also need a good, steady supply of wind in order to generate the power. Because of this it is not always feasible to use this method of generating power.

However, a magnetic generator can cost around a hundred dollars depending on the size of generator. The power it can put out will of course depend on the size and number of magnets that the generator contains. You should think about how much power you need before you purchase a particular unit. This is because the last thing you want is to end up with a power shortage because the generator you purchased was not heavy-duty enough.

As you can see, there are a few things that you need to think about when you consider using a magnetic generator. Whether it is to power one or two individual appliances or an entire household that has decided to go off-grid, you can be sure that there is a source of magnetic energy that is suitable for your home.
