Congratulations. You are wise enough to search for the truth about what feeds you the best without feeding the yeast. Such knowledge will empower you on your quest to feel great and be smart about feeding yourself. After all, where will you live when your body wears out (or Candida takes over and rules your life and your body)?
Here's the truth about foods that feed you without feeding the yeast. Eat only from these food lists:
Meat (all kinds of animal protein)
Vegetables
Non-gluten grains and beans
At first glance this food list may feel very limiting to your candida diet, but think again. How many different animal proteins can you choose from?
Poultry - chicken, turkey, duck, Cornish game hens, egg
Fish - lots of varieties
Shellfish - clam, lobster, shrimp, oyster, mussels
Lamb
Beef
With the great variety of fish added to the above list, you could eat a different animal protein almost every day of the month.
When you add all of the gorgeous, colorful vegetables, your variety increases exponentially. Choose one vegetable from each of the following colorful groups for each meal or for each day:
Green leafy - romaine lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, artichoke, chives, endive, parsley, etc.
Green - asparagus, broccoli, celery, green bell pepper, green beans, etc.
Yellow or white - avocado, cauliflower, cucumber, squash, etc.
Red, orange, purple - beets, carrots, eggplant, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, winter squash, etc.
Root vegetables - onions, white or red potatoes, radish, turnips, etc.
Next add a bean or non-gluten whole grain to your candida diet recipes and you will have a mouth watering, beautiful, tasty, satisfying plate of food:
Beans - any variety
Grains - brown rice, quinoa, millet, teff, wild rice, amaranth (have fun exploring this category).
There you have it, the food that feeds you magnificently without feeding the yeast Candida and other unfriendly organisms.
Try a vegetable that you think you don't like in combination with these other foods and you may find a delightful new taste that you really enjoy!
Since variety is the spice of life, experiment with a lot of different combinations of these food groups. Also, add some herbs or spices, or different allowed salad dressings or marinades to add to your taste delights.
Vary the way you prepare your candida diet recipes too. Steam all that beautiful variety of food in a steamer basket for 8 minutes or stir cook them. Make them into salads. Also, you can make your meal look like a traditional meal by preparing a meat, vegetable, root or grain and vegetable salad.
You will think that you have become a master chef. And you have!
After four to eight weeks of eating only from the meat, vegetable, bean or grain list, you may cautiously add these food categories back into your candida diet recipes:
Nuts and seeds
Whole fruit
Since nuts and seeds may develop mold easily and since they can be a bit harder to digest, avoid them in your candida diet plans for the first four to eight weeks. Then add one at a time into your candida diet recipes in small amounts. Three days after trying the first nut, try adding another one if you tolerated the first one well.
Do the same with fruit. Most people digest fruit the best when eaten all by itself between meals.
Keep your fruit serving size small (one small apple, one-half banana, 10 grapes, etc.) and eat no more than 2 servings per day. The natural sugar in fruit can start the yeast growing again. Only eat whole fruit, never drink fruit juice. The natural fruit sugar is too concentrated in fruit juice.
