It is three in the morning and you cannot go back to sleep. Your itchy, watery eyes and sneezing has kept you up all night. It has been going on for days. What could have caused those reactions? The answer: Allergies. This is pretty serious because it is preventing you from getting your full recommended 7-8 hours of sleep. Sleep is essential for a person's health and well-being. Not getting enough sleep can raise your blood sugar level, which can even lead to obesity and diabetes. You are also putting yourself in risk of causing an accident and harming yourself and everyone else around you. Allergies can be caused by many things. The bedroom can be one of them. There are ways that you can prevent these allergies from taking over.
Dust mites is one of the main leading causes of allergies in the bedroom. The use of bedding that acts as a barrier to the dust mite and its allergens is a good first step in prevention. Dust mites live off our dead skin cells and animal dander. The easiest way to prevent dust mites is washing your bedding at least once a week. If your comforters are non washable then I recommend they be put away or covered with a hypoallergenic duvet cover.
One of the most popular hypoallergenic duvet covers used today is made of bamboo. Bamboo duvet covers not only are hypo-allergenic, they have a 99.8% bacterial kill rate and can be washed frequently. You can also replace your comforters with alternative down comforters. These comforters are made from hypoallergenic materials that are more suitable for allergy prone individuals. Most can be machine washed and are fairly resistant to water and moisture. They cost just about the same as a regular comforter but have the advantage of being hypoallergenic.
Feather pillows should be replaced with hypoallergenic pillows. The materials in these pillows are designed to repel against dust mites. It is also a good idea to keep all stuff animals off your bed or wash them weekly. Finally, make sure to keep your bedroom dust free. This includes washing your curtains, dusting furniture and cleaning blinds frequently.
I highly recommend going to Multi Shop Stop. There you will find alternative down comforters, bamboo duvet covers and more at a great price.
