Even though there is a great deal of buzz out there about foreign produced cars, in my opinion, they simply do not possess the comparable soul as antique American cars. Yes, there are a whole lot of Japanese automobiles that can go fast, and last longer than some American automobiles, but none of them have the grace and looks of a Viper or a camaro. Those American muscle autos are the stuff that the fantasies of many were shaped by, with their top speed, their horsepower, their luxuriousness, and their hot styling. Well ahead of the times of the compact and efficient rice burners, road hugging, fuel gulping American automobiles truly ruled the entire world, as the American conglomerate did.
Course, in numerous ways those years are past, and I think that it is accurate that they won't come again. Chrysler has been bought out by Daimler Benz, and the other American auto companies do so much of their constructing over seas that it's become a big challenge to even imagine their autos as American. Certainly, they are American corporations in the sense that they started here, but in reality they are nowadays multi-national companies that feel no sense of national loyalty at all, and are merely in it to produce money. Nonetheless, despite the cut backs and the downsizing, and what not, some of the spirit of American automobiles still exists on the highways nowadays.
Look around you next time you are out, and you are likely to see a few classic autos. However, they are regrettably going by the wayside, and being exchanged with modern-day knock offs of the older automobiles. Take a gander at the modern-day Camaro, Mustang, Charger each of which were just been redesigned by their manufacturers in order to bring additional "classic styling" to them. Sure they seem nice, but it's just not the same as having a real piece of American steel to make the tires squeal and not plea for forgiveness.
For my money, if you are a fan of American muscle automobiles, you shouldn't purchase the pc controlled, overly slick autos of nowadays, but purchase one of the more classy autos of yesterday. The fifties, and to an extent, the sixties were where it was at in terms of American autos was concerned. That was the age of the very strong steel frames that could hold together like nobody's business, of the large, heavy solid American cars that did withstand up to years and years of abuse. That was a long time earlier than the travesty of unibody construction kicked in, when men were men, and American cars were cars. Maybe those times are gone, but the automobiles from those years – at least many of them – are currently on the road today, and some of them can be had by any fairly well off collectors. There's nothing better than the roaring of an old, decked out v-8 engine under the bonnet of a older American automobiles, and that is no lie.
