Affiliate marketing is a great way for anyone to get their own online business started. You can typically get signed up with an affiliate program and get started immediately.
What makes affiliate marketing so easy to implement is that your main (and only) function is to promote the products of the companies you are marketing for. They will do the rest.
It is not necessary for you to have a website. You will not have to ship product. You just need to find a company and product with an affiliate program you believe in and you feel has sales potential. You are then ready to get started.
But is it really that simple? Yes and no. Thousands if not millions of people are involved in affiliate marketing. Of them probably less than 20% earn any income at all. Of those, even smaller percentages make a decent income.
So it is simple to get started but not so much to make good money with affiliate marketing. To do that you need to really understand how to promote and sell a product. If you don't you will join the 90% or more that spins his wheels.
Here is where you have to start and what will give you a fighting chance in this competitive industry:
It is stated earlier in this article that you don't have to have your own website. That's true. But, you absolutely need a website to properly affiliate market if your goal is to start an online business that will produce a good income.
It is not hard to start a website. There are inexpensive but effective services all over the internet. With your own website you're able to build a data base of potential customers who have shown an interest in what you are selling.
In other words instead of those customers going directly to your affiliate program's site your affiliate link brings them to yours. At that point you direct them to the affiliate product you?re promoting. But not until you have their vital information.
This is the most important thing you can do. Once you have their information- name and email address for sure- you have a potential customer for life. This is your opt in list.
You can now follow up via email with these people who have given you their information without being considered a spammer. This gives you the opportunity to send out promotional emails to all those on your list and greatly enhances your chances for future sales.
You'll need to get an auto responder that can handle the subscription process and follow up messages. Auto responders can also be found easily and set up quickly.
