Author : Wendy Moyer

Whether you have a home business or work at a large, multi-national corporation, printers ink cartridges are often a major business expense. Corporate bean counters probably take the cost of these cartridges into consideration.

But if you work at home it's very important that you consider the amount of money your inkjet cartridges cost when you are figuring out your actual cost of doing business. You may be shocked to find that the money you saved by purchasing a bargain priced printer has been far outweighed by the price of the replacement printers ink cartridges you had to buy.

If you're like most people, you can't even imagine working without the help your printer provides. Because of that you're probably already always looking for the highest quality, lowest price ink cartridges online.

In addition to buying online to save money, here are four things you can do to lessen the amount of ink that you use and increase your company's bottom line.

Use Draft Quality

Whenever you can, use draft print quality. Unless what you're printing out is for publication or is intended for distribution to clients or prospects draft quality will usually suffice.

You could even be surprised by not even recognizing the difference between draft quality and the highest quality your printer offers. And another pleasant surprise will be the amount of money you will save on printers ink by taking this route.

In order to change to draft quality go to File - Print. Click on "Properties" to see your options. You'll most likely find your choices where it says "Paper/Quality". Then click on "Draft" and you're good to go.

Although you will be printing at a lower resolution you will probably find that it more than meets your needs.

Outsource Your Photo Printing

Printing photographs on your printer uses a lot of printers ink. It is often much more affordable to outsource photo printing to local print centers.

If you don't want to drive you can often order your prints on the Internet and have them mail the finished photos to you. You can also often order specialty products such as greeting cards or calendars while you're saving money on printers ink.

Print In Black and White When Possible

Black ink is a lot more affordable than color ink. Whenever you can print in black and white at draft quality and you will save a substantial amount of money.

Print Multiple Pages on One Sheet of Paper

If your eyesight can deal with it you can usually print two or more pages on each sheet of paper. Just change your page orientation to "Landscape" and adjust your printers' settings. In addition to saving printer ink you will save paper as well.
