E. Insurance Agents
An insurance agent is a person who takes up agency from the insurance company to sell their policy on a commission basis. He acts as an intermediary between the insurance company and the policyholder. But before doing so, he has to undergo training and get a certificate of proficiency from the insurance company.
The Job
a.) Helping individuals or companies select the right policy for their needs.
b.) Planning for the financial security of individuals, families, and businesses, advise about insurance protection for an automobile, home, business, or other property
c.) Preparing reports and maintain records
d.) Helping a policyholder obtain settlement of an insurance claim.
For being successful, agents should be outgoing and social and should have a knack of convincing people. The Insurance companies do recruitment of agents after a written test and an interview. Graduates in the age group of 21 to 35 years are preferred.
Initial stipends and pocket expenses form part of the initial packet to the agent in addition to the commission.
F. Insurance Surveyors
Insurance surveyors are qualified professionals deputed for the assessment of losses. Their job is to assess the actual loss and avoid false claims filed by the insured and on the other hand help the insured who has suffered a genuine loss by indemnification of the loss. The work is not always delighting as it often involves a lot of hard work and traveling at awkward times.
To hold a license of a surveyor, one must possess any one of the following qualifications.
a.) Fellowship or Associateship of the Institute of Insurance Surveyors and Adjustors (IISA), Mumbai.
b.) A Degree or Diploma in Architecture of a Recognised University or Institute.

Insurance surveyors are technically qualified professionals deputed for the assessment of losses according to their qualifications and experience. A surveyor with a background in Mechanical Engineering does the assessment in the case of an industrial accident. The surveyor doesn't just survey – he/she investigates, evaluates, assesses, adjusts, determines liability, negotiates and finally reports. He is the only specialised link between the insurers and the insured. He helps insurers by minimizing and avoiding false, exaggerated claims and on the other hand helps the insured who have suffered a genuine loss by indemnification of their loss.
