Hair Care Tips For Long Hair

Author : james wiliam

There are many steps involved when learning how to care for long hair. Just like short hair, it will have some maintenance methods that are unique to its length. But no matter the length, some hair care tips remain the same such as drinking plenty of water, eating healthy and getting plenty of vitamins and nutrients, specifically biotin are all important to keep your hair healthy and looking great.

Regardless of its length or style, we all want one thing: a healthy, great looking head of hair. But the first step to having healthy, luxurious hair is to know its exact type. Is it oily, dry or normal? It your hair naturally curly or straight? Are you troubled by dandruff? Has your hair been processed in some way? Is it brittle or strong?

One of the fastest ways to ruin your hair is to deep fry it on a regular basis with flat irons and blow dryers. Using these hot tools more than once in a blue moon dries your hair out and promotes damage and split ends. Instead try air drying or invest in a quality hairdryer. These drying methods are much better for your hair and help encourage growth.

Experts on curly hair care suggest that if you are going to use clarifying shampoos don't apply them to your hair more than one time during a month. Select a shampoo that is not transparent due to transparency being an indication that it contains detergents that will decrease the moisture in your hair and that is not suitable if you want smooth manageable long curly hair.

Washing your hair with any kind of milk is another great idea. It is very simple as you can use it as you use a normal shampoo. A milk hair wash can make your hair soft and shiny by supplying the required natural oils.

Tangles are common in your hair. And the best way to get rid of them is by brushing your hair from the bottom. This is because if you brush from the top, you only pull tangles together to create knots that prove difficult to handle. It is possible to avoid split ends by using wide-tooth comb after washing your hair.

Don't go longer than a week without washing your hair. A common myth among African American women is not to wash your hair too much because it will lead to dryness. Far from the truth. Water will keep your hair moisturized and clean. Having a clean scalp and hair will promote hair growth. And it smells much better!

As for your long hair care, air dry it whenever possible, concentrate the conditioner on its ends, wash it under the shower and leave it hanging down. As part of your hair care, make sure to use a dandruff shampoo and do a final rinse in cold water disregard the cold winter temperatures, keep a super absorbent hair drying towel close by, and remember, never brush your hair when it is wet which can cause the hair to break.
