Using Pain-Killing Medication To Relieve Back Pain Immediately

Author : m newbold

From an annoying ache to an agony so tremendous to the point that changing positions while sleeping is so traumatic, it only goes to show that you need an immediate back pain medication.

There are many possibilities that go hand in hand with it like injuries to the muscles, ligaments or disks that have occurred during an activity such as having to lift heavy objects or shifting heavy furniture.

It can even be brought about by a pinched nerve, swelling infection, spinal arthritis, rare tumors, thinning osteoporosis and bone scoliosis. However, there are some unfortunate people that their level of vulnerability is factored genetically making them more prone to stress.

Back pain medication can range in its effectiveness from utilizing analgesics that reduces inflammation, restores proper function and preventing injury recurrence. Most sufferers will recover after a period of time. However, if there is no noticeable reduction in the severity of pain after 72 hours of self- care, it is strongly advised to contact your doctor.

Here is a list of simple back pain medication that you can take to treat yourself in the comfort of your own home:

· Varying temperatures
Utilizing hot and cold compresses have never been scientifically proven for back pain medication but it is used successfully to allow greater mobility for some individuals by easing stiffened backs. Following a trauma, patients should apply a bag of ice or frozen peas, wrapped in a towel to prevent freeze-burns to the skin, and apply to the sore area for up to 20 minutes each day. After two to three days of repeated cold packs, a heat pad is then applied for brief periods to relax muscles and encourage good blood flow to the area.

· Find a comfortable Sleep position
Sleep depravation through back pain can result in other conditions, such as depression, increased stress levels, anxiety and mood swings, which can contribute to worsening of the back problem, and slow down recovery. Making sure you get adequate rest is imperative in the recovery and healing of a back condition. Before dropping off to sleep, sufferers should lie on one side with a pillow placed between the knees. This will help to align the spine and take the pressure off the injured site enough to provide a good nights sleep.

· Core Strengthening Exercises
Performing regular exercises aimed at strengthening the core, such as pilates or yoga stretching, is most effective to help speed up your back pain recovery. It is important especially for people who have poor posture or skeletal alignment to maintain and build extra strength into these supporting muscles. If you do not know which exercises are the best to perform, you can always ask your doctor, or attend a yoga stretch or pilates class at a local gym or leisure centre. A good start would be to just increase your activity levels through walking or regular swimming sessions.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a therapy to relieve back pain that involves the insertion of thin needles. These needles are placed along the precise points throughout the body. Experts in acupuncture believe that it triggers the release of naturally occurring painkilling elements called peptides. It also balances the body’s flow of energy, known as qi (pronounced as chee) back to normal.

There are many more therapies you can try, and it is worth trying a few out to find the solution that best suits you. For more advice about how to deal with your back pain by a team of experts trained in back care and pain management, see below.
