But the major problem of getting people to arrive at a website, and continue to be a regular member at the online dating site, is the one of the most difficult challenges facing an online dating site, or indeed any site for that matter.
A great deal of website owners have sought to sort this problem out with paid per lcik advertising, such as Google Adwords, where they pay a certain amount per user who comes from them through an Adwords advert(the right and top highlighted and a little away from the normal search results, indicating that the sites have paid for the prominence).
If on the other hand an online dating site doesn't have the financial means or muscle to compete with well established online dating sites with a pay per click campaign, one of the best ways to do this is via an affiliate program, where affiliates are paid based on the number of signups to the online dating site they can induce, the affiliate might have their own pay-per-click campaign or already have a large member database who might once in a while receive a newsletter regarding online dating.
However a little bit of suspicion must be levelled against many dating match affiliate programmes. There are some devious companies, who entice affiliates with unparalleled earning potential compared to other affiliate programmes in the same industry. The affiliate on bringing sign-ups will initially see their balance increase impressively, but when it is time for payment(usually after a month or thereabouts) , the site might claim some of the those sign-ups were of no use, and in some cases erase the signups from the affiliate's member panel (called "scrubbing of leads"). A major hint that such an online dating site affiliate program is not to be trusted is the unusual earning potential such as claiming each potential sign-up that clicks through the affiliate url will be paid, something ten times more than the industry rate, that should send alarm bells ringing, especially when the small print indicates that they will only be paid per click if the potential sign-up goes on to purchase a premium membership, ofcourse this little important information is never heralded before the affiliate signs up, just in the small print where many individuals never look at it, until there is a problem.
